Business and Finance

Committee Description

  • Formulate the organization’s annual business plan. Present the annual budget in coordination with the Treasurer to the TALWD board at the first Quarterly Board Meeting of the calendar year, and approve at the second quarterly board meeting.
  • Review and approve in a timely manner all contract entered into by the organization.
  • Review and approve TALWD Co-Sponsored Event requests.
  • Work with TALWD Annual Meeting Planning committee to set up hotel/event contracts.
  • Work with the Marketing Committee for the recruitment of vendors at the annual meeting.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Committee coordinate activities for TALWD sponsored events or seminars.

Legislative

Committee Description

  • Provide members with updates regarding general legislative activities.
  • Keep members informed of federal and state legislative issues that impact WIC and TALWD.
  • Inform elected officials of current WIC issues, as needed.
  • Coordinate legislative activities as needed.
  • Work with State Liaison concerning legislative issues. With the continuing changes in Washington and the uncertainty on how these changes will affect the WIC program and the WIC budget, it is now more crucial than ever to maintain communication and work with State liaisons on legislative issues

Membership

Committee Description

  • Advise the Board on member status, updates and concerns.
  • Contact new Local Agency directors and provide TALWD information with the intent to recruit and engage new members.
  • Manage the nomination and election process. Coordinate with the TALWD Annual Meeting Planning Committee to efficiently include process in agenda.
  • Prepare annual dues notice and assure dissemination (i.e. via regional reps, newsletter, and/or email.)
  • Maintain TALWD brochure in conjunction with Marketing.

Marketing

Committee Description

  • Develop the TALWD Marketing Plan and present to TALWD Board at the first Quarterly Board Meeting of the calendar year, and approve at the second quarterly board meeting.
  • Oversee and update TALWD website content.
  • Oversee and update TALWD social media accounts.
  • Maintain TALWD brochure in conjunction with Membership.
  • Work with Business and Finance Committee for the recruitment of vendors at the Annual meeting.
  • In conjunction with the Business and Finance Committee coordinate activities for the TALWD sponsored events or seminars.

Local Agency Administration

Committee Description

  • Responsible for projects and concerns as they impact the management of the Local Agency
  • Provide input to the State WIC Agency on policies and procedures in the areas of general administration, accounting, automation, quality assurance, training, and vendor operations.
  • Provide input to State WIC Agency on State and Local Agency funding issues and concerns. Share with the State any Local Agency initiated concerns.
  • Provide input to the State Agency regarding various administration issues. Share with the State any local agency initiated concerns.
  • Note: Many administrative activities may overlap with other TALWD Committee activities as projects are seen from a different perspective.

Client Services

Committee Description

  • Responsible for projects and concerns as they impact services provided to clients.
  • Provide input to the State WIC Agency on policies and procedures in the areas of certification, civil rights, food delivery issues and outreach.
  • Note: Some examples include…Texas Medical Request for Formula/Food Form, Outreach items such as Join Texas WIC, WIC Promotional Signage, Push Cards/Business cards, and Policies.

Nutrition Education

 Committee Description

 

  • Review nutrition education materials, plans and policies as requested by the Sate WIC Agency.
  • Communicate with the WIC State Agency about nutrition education related topics and concerns, including recommendations for new and revised Nutrition Education materials.
  • Note: Many administrative activities may overlap with other TALWD Committee activities as projects are seen from a different perspective.

Breastfeeding

Committee Description

  • Review breastfeeding education materials, trainings, plans and policies as requested by the State WIC Agency.
  • Communicate with the WIC State Agency about breastfeeding related topics and concerns, including recommendations for new and revised BF materials.
  • Work with or provide feedback to the State WIC Agency on any matters related to breastfeeding education, promotion, support and/or equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate resources with Lactation Support Centers, Texas Breastfeeding Coalition, and any other statewide breastfeeding initiatives
