Board Job Descriptions

General Responsibilities:

• Serves as voting representative to the National WIC Association for Texas Local WIC Agencies.

Specific Duties:

• Attends Annual Meeting of the National WIC Association (NWA)
• Votes on NWA issues as the representative of TALWD
• Acts as a liaison between the NWA Southwestern Regional Representative and TALWD
• Presents a report of activities at Executive Committee Meetings and the TALWD Business meeting

Requirements/Experience:

• Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings, TALWD Annual Business meeting, and NWA meetings

General Responsibilities:

• Assumes duties of NWA Representative if the NWA Representative is absent or unable to serve. Assumes office of the NWA Representative after the previous term expires

Specific Duties: 

• Attends Annual Meeting of the National WIC Association (NWA)
• Votes as a proxy on NWA issues as the representative of TALWD in the absence of the NWA Representative 
• Acts as a liaison between the NWA Southwestern Regional Representative and TALWD in the absence of the NWA Representative 
• In the event of a vacancy in the office of the NWA Representative, assumes the  position of NWA Representative
• Upon completion of a two-year the NWA Representative Elect assumes the  office of NWA Representative

Requirements/Experience:

• Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings, TALWD Annual Business meeting, and NWA meetings

• Recruit TALWD members for committee membership at annual meeting Committee Sign Up opportunity
• Maintain a current list of committee members
• Identify a committee co-chair, as needed
• Present committee report (summary of previous quarter activities) at the quarterly TALWD Board meeting. Provide multiple copies (25) of report to distribute to board members. If unable to attend, submit the quarterly written report to the appropriate Vice-President or delegate to co-chair or other committee member to present
• Present annual report of activities at the annual TALWD Business meeting
• Obtain approval of the Executive Committee on specific issues involving use of TALWD funds or having Impact on WIC local agencies before submission to the State Agency. If the time frame for the response is required before the next TALWD Board meeting, the decision will be made by the consensus of the Executive Board
• Attend quarterly TALWD Executive Committee meeting

• Advises the President and the TALWD Board on organizational issues and provides continuity for the organization Committee Chair General Responsibilities
