Executive Board Job Descriptions
President

General Responsibilities:

  • Sets goals for the organization during the term of office
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned by the bylaws
  • Presides at meetings

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinates establishment of short-range and long-range goals for the organization
  • Presides over meetings including Executive Committee and Annual Business meeting
  • Prepares agendas for all meetings
  • Signs all legal documents and contracts
  • Appoints committee chairs for all committees, including special committees and task forces. Removes committee chairs when needed
  • Supervises employees of the organization                       
  • Conducts performance evaluations for  employees at least annually.
  • Serves as the official contact between the State WIC Agency and TALWD.
  •  Appoints an audit committee of three (3) TALWD members to conduct the annual fiscal audit.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Served as Regional Representative or other elected officer (1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, NWA Representative or NWA Representative­ Elect).
  • Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings and TALWD Annual Business meeting.
1st Vice President of Organization & Development

 General Responsibilities:

  • Assumes the duties of the President whenever the President is absent or unable to serve

Specific Duties:

  • Serves as liaison to the Executive Committee for the following Standing Committees:
    • Business and FInance
    • Legislative
    • Marketing
    • Membership
  • Tracks activities of these committees and obtains quarterly written reports to submit to the Executive Committee

Requirements/Experience:

  • Served as Regional Representative or Committee Chair/Co-Chair
  • Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee Meeting and TALWD Annual Business Meeting
2nd Vice President of Program Operations

General Responsibilities:

  • Assumes the duties of the President whenever the President or 1st Vice President is    absent or unable to serve

Specific Duties:

  • Serves as the liaison to the Executive Committee for the following Standing  Committees:
    • Breastfeeding Committee
    • Client Services Committee
    • Nutrition Education Committee
    • Local Agency Administration Committee
  • Tracks activities of these committees and obtains quarterly written reports to submit to the Executive Committee

Requirements/Experience:

  • Served as Regional Representative or Committee Chair/Co-Chair
  • Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings and TALWD Annual Business meeting
Treasurer

 General Responsibilities:

  • Receives and disburses the funds of the organization

Specific Duties:

  • Pays organization's bills on time
  • Prepares quarterly and annual financial reports. Prepares other financial reports as     needed or requested by the President
  • Maintains organized and accurate records for the annual fiscal audit
  • Reconciles bank statements
  • Performs accounting duties for contracted/sponsored conferences and meetings
  • Tracks profit/loss for sponsored events
  • Prepares annual budget for the Association
  • Prepares and distributes appropriate tax forms for Association employees and contractors
  • Collects money and makes deposits
  • Receives and disburses funds from Health and Human Services for trainings    and workshops
  •  Assures that annual federal taxes are filed in an appropriate time-frame

Requirements/Experience:

  • Served as Regional Representative or Committee Chair/Co-chair.
  • Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings and TALWD Annual Business meeting.
Secretary

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintains records of the organization

Specific Duties:

  • Notifies Executive Committee members of meetings.
  • Makes   arrangements for meals and meeting rooms for TALWD Executive Committee Meetings
  • Records minutes at all Executive Committee meetings, the Annual Business Meeting and other meetings as requested by the President                                                                            
  • Maintains official documents of the organization, including the bylaws, rules of  order, standing rules, correspondence, and committee reports and minutes
  • Keeps the bylaws and other governing document up-to-date with any changes made
  • Signs all minutes and other certified acts of the organization, unless the bylaws specifiy differently
  • Notifies members of meetings
  • Maintains an up-to-date list of all TALWD members

  • Must be able to travel and attend TALWD Executive Committee meetings and TALWD Annual Business meeting
