Bertha Amaya is responsible for the administration of the Women, Infant’s & Children Program that provides nutrition services to support a healthy lifestyle, access to health care through medical/social service referrals and food benefit issuances. Furthermore, the program contributes over $6 million federal grant for program services along with contributions to the local economy of over $25 million annually through the participation of 78 WIC approved vendors in El Paso County. She has been involved in the local, state and national level through community partnerships, Texas Association of Local WIC Directors, chair of the Technology committee representing 76 WIC local agencies in Texas; Western Region Representative and Past President Council. Actively participated in the Local Agency Legislative committee for the National WIC Association.
